My first entry is being rewound back to the middle of July when Michael and I traveled to Italy for a mission trip. There was a total of nine of us that traveled across the globe to land in beautiful Venice, Italy. We left on July 8th for the Atlanta Airport. We then flew from Atlanta to Philadelphia, PA and then to Venice, Italy. Upon our arrival, we gathered our luggage, loaded it into the vans that we used to travel the entire trip, and made our way to "The Center". The Center is the central location operated by our contact for missions, Sam. It is used to house all different types of missionaries from all over the world.
DAY 1
During our first day in Italy, we mostly rested and tried to get adjusted to the time difference (which is 8 hours). We met Sam, Tom, Beth, and Danelli...We also moved ourselves and luggage into the Bed & Breakfast that we stayed at for 2 nights. The first of which we slept on pretty much what amounted to a covered porch. We had no air, mini-fridges, blow dryers, internet,or pretty much anything else we are so accustomed to back in the states. We went back to the center for most of our meals during the time we were in northern Italy. For lunch the first day was pasta frajul, sliced tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella. Dinner was roasted chicken, masked potatoes, green pea risotto, nectarines, and espresso. We then made our way into town for our first of many trips to the gelato shop! Fragola (strawberry) was my choice this time. (Oh, how I miss gelato!) |
